The Europe and Central Asia Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction “Empowering communities, building resilience” was held on 6 – 8 November in Budva, Montenegro. The EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement, which together with the UNDRR and the European Commission, was a co-organiser of the Forum and was represented by the Executive Secretary, who delivered a statement (link) at the Ministerial Roundtable.
At the forum, the 2024 BeSafeNet Olympiad laureates and their teachers celebrated their winning performance at the Award Ceremony. The laureates if the competition, held on 23 February 2024, emerged from the top three teams: the 4Smarties from Stavros Gymnasium in Nicosia, Greece (1st), the 4Tified from the 5th General Upper-Secondary School in Karditsa Greece (2nd) and Viva Eroina from Colegiul National Ecaterina Teodoroiu in Targu Jiu, Romania (3rd). The BeSafeNet project Manager as well as the EUR-OPA secretariat participated in the event which gathered representatives of 55 countries.
